Description: The Commercial Mobile Radio Service Emergency Telecommunications Board is made up of eight gubernatorial appointees. The board is charged with reviewing, evaluating, developing standards and deciding on plans of modifications to the E911 service requirements established by the Federal Communications Commission. The board is also responsible for collecting and regulating service charges for commercial mobile radio connections.
Composition: 10 members appointed by the Governor as follows: 2 members shall be employed by or representatives of the interest of CMRS providers, of which 1 shall be a representative of a Tier III CMRS provider; 1 shall be a Mayor of a city of the 1st or 2nd class or urban-county government or their designee containing a public safety answering point; 1 member shall be appointed from list of local exchange landline telephone companies' representatives submitted by the KY Telephone Assoc.; 1 member shall be a director of a certified public safety answering point operated by a local governmental entity or a consolidated group of local governmental entities appointed from lists of candidates submitted to the Governor by the Kentucky Firefighters Assoc, the State Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, and the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Assoc.; 2 members shall be appointed from lists of candidates submitted to the Governor by the KY Emergency Number Assoc. and the Assoc. of Public Communications Officials; and 1 member shall be a director of a certified public safety answering point operated by a local government entity or a consolidated group of local government entities. The Commissioner of State Police, or designee, and CMRS emergency telecommunications administrator shall also be members of the Board and shall serve by virtue of their office.
