Chair: The Chair is elected from among the membership of the Commission.
Description: The board is to study & recommend activities to commemorate important events that occurred during the Civil War in KY, inform residents of the important role KY played in the Civil War and the effects of the War on the Commonwealth, and encourage organization and participation in activities to expand the significance of the Civil War.
Composition: The Board shall consist of Twenty-five (25) members; the Governor appointees One (1) member from the Governor's Office of Minority Empowerment; Three (3) members of faculty or staff from KY colleges & universities with a demonstrated interest in local history & knowledge of the Civil War; and Four (4) citizen members from the state at-large with a demonstrated interest in local history and knowledge of Civil war-related sites in KY. All members may be reappointed. The Commission shall meet at least biannually.
